Advanced Comprehension Mastery
Tuesdays 5.00pm-6.00pm
This class develops imaginative, well-structured writing that stands out in exam conditions. Students learn how to plan longer form answers typically found in independent and second-stage grammar school exams effectively, using evidence with control, and build analyses with strong vocabulary, and purposeful paragraphs. Every session includes short modelling, guided practice, and personalised feedback to help children write with confidence and flair.
Creative Writing Mastery
Wednesdays 5.00pm-6.00pm
This class focuses on helping students produce confident, controlled pieces of creative writing under timed exam conditions. Pupils are taught how to shape ideas into clear, engaging narratives, develop atmosphere, and select language deliberately for effect. Through step-by-step guidance, examples, and structured practice, children learn how to organise their writing, sustain quality throughout, and approach creative tasks with clarity and assurance.

A combined deep-learning session that connects reading skills with high-level written responses. Students unpick language and structure in classic and modern texts, then use these techniques in their own writing. The longer format allows for modelling, guided practice, timed tasks, and meaningful feedback, building strong exam performance in both reading and writing.
Multiple Choice Comprehension with SPAG
Fridays 6.30pm-7.30pm
This class develops high-level reading skills through option-based questions similar to GL and FSCE exams. Students learn how to spot key words, rule out distractors, and recognise common traps in inference, vocabulary, and retrieval tasks. Every lesson uses short extracts followed by precise multiple-choice practice, helping pupils choose answers with evidence rather than guesswork. The session also includes regular SPaG questions in a similar format, ensuring children gain confidence in both comprehension and grammar under exam conditions.
